The service industry is a people industry, we rely completely on the quality of people who deliver our services to our customers. In the facilities management sector we recruit from a very diverse pool and we must therefore ensure a culture of fairness, inclusion and respect to enable our people to give their best. This in turn will result in high levels of service delivery, delighted customers and successful businesses.
Importantly in service delivery we also need to address accessibility issues when designing and constructing infrastructure and buildings. The Equality Act 2010 protects the rights of people with certain protected characteristics (e.g. associated with age, disability) to access services and we must use this to guide us when designing buildings and infrastructure.
