Skanska, established in 1887, is one of the world’s leading project development and construction groups. The UK operation is one of the country’s top contractors.
In the UK, Skanska is famous for building iconic structures like 30 St Mary Axe (the Gherkin), Heron Tower, Barts and The Royal London hospitals and the QEII Bridge. Just as important are our extensive service-based contracts: upgrading London’s gas infrastructure, a wealth of facilities maintenance contracts, long-term street lighting projects, and landscaping for the London 2012 Olympic Park in Stratford.

“The Supply Chain Sustainability School aligns to our Business Unit purpose and 2020 strategy. It has gone from strength to strength...and is now the UK’s leading supplier engagement sustainability tool. It promotes sustainable business through long-term thinking, environmental consciousness, social and ethical responsibility.”Dale Turner, Director of Procurement and Supply Chain

Sustainability and Supply Chain
Skanska works hand-in-hand with thousands of suppliers every day. Whether it’s a hospital in Walsall, a motorway around London or replacing gas pipes in Essex, the company uses the latest ideas, skills and equipment to deliver the best solutions possible.
To do this, we need to have a supply chain that is second to none. It’s our responsibility to help our suppliers stay safe, be greener and become more efficient in everything they do. And by working in this way with some fantastic companies, we are able to deliver world-class projects safely, on time and within budget.
To be a leader, we must create shareholder value in a responsible way and contribute positively to society. Profit is needed to deliver our purpose; and a strong purpose will contribute to our profit.
Why a Partner?
We are a responsible company whom strives to meet the needs of the world today without jeopardising the needs of the world tomorrow. We try to plan ahead and we do our best to address the opportunities and challenges that are, or could be, linked to our activities.
Skanska has adopted four company values: Care for Life; Act Ethically & Transparently; Be Better – Together; and Commit to Customers. These values are intended to express who we are, how we behave and what we believe in, and to help us in our day-to-day work.
As the founding member, Skanska committed to the Supply Chain Sustainability School as part of its Business plan in 2010. We recognised that to be a Sustainable company we need to have a sustainable supply chain. The Supply Chain Sustainability School was formed in 2012 and helps develop our supply chain to meet future Sustainability aspirations and also learn from our supply chain where they are already mature in their own journey.
