VolkerWessels UK is a leading multidisciplinary contractor that delivers innovative engineering solutions across the civil engineering and construction sectors including rail, highways, airport, marine, energy, water, and environmental infrastructure.
The company employs circa 3000 staff across the country and brings together best practice through five business units: VolkerFitzpatrick, VolkerRail, VolkerStevin, VolkerHighways and VolkerLaser. These business units each have a long and successful heritage built on delivering quality and bespoke projects as well as providing specialist skills, plant and equipment.
Collaboration is also at the heart of what we do as we share best practice and draw on the specialist skills of each business unit to deliver a truly integrated service to our clients. By utilising the specialist skills of each business unit within VolkerWessels UK, we are able to provide development to ensure our staff provide unrivalled resources and expertise to our clients.
Sustainability and Supply Chain
Our approach to Sustainability has three things at its core. The first is the belief that Sustainability must be delivered with substance and integrity, secondly it must have people at its heart, and finally it needs to connect seamlessly with every other part of our business. We have created a framework that supports our workforce and supply chain in understanding VolkerWessels UK’s desire to grow responsibly, with respect for communities and the natural environment, and to leave a legacy we are proud of.
- Is founded on the material aspects of our operations and promotes entrepreneurial spirit to drive forward innovative thought leadership
- Is based on a maturity matrix to allow for stretched, exciting and ongoing progression
- Sets measurable and meaningful targets to monitor progress
- Uses the National TOMS Framework to unlock the social value embedded in our operations
- Enables us to meaningfully engaging and communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
Why a Partner?
VolkerWessels UK became Partner members of Supply Chain Sustainability School to enable us to more proactively engage with our supply chain around key sustainability issues and encourage their use of the range of resources available. Our aim is to add value to our society, inspire others and support suppliers in their own efforts to share time, skills and resources in their chosen way. The School facilitates this in a professional and forward thinking manner.
