Fairness, Inclusion and Respect
Clients and large contractors are working together to develop a culture of Fairness, Inclusion and Respect (FIR) within their workplaces. This includes promoting equality and diversity and combating discrimination. They are increasingly expecting their supply chain partners to work with them to achieve this.
Promoting FIR brings many business benefits to the companies that work to achieve it. As a sector, we need to embrace FIR in order to attract, recruit, train and retain the skills and talent that we need to deliver our pipeline of works.
The material within these pages is intended to help companies embrace FIR and capture the business benefits that it provides.
We provide a FIR Toolkit comprising e-learning, toolbox talks and a resource library that is freely available to any company that wishes to use it.
Organisations involved in developing the FIR Toolkit are: Balfour Beatty, BAM, Carillion, CECA, CITB, GRAHAM, Highways England, HS2 Ltd, Interserve, Network Rail, Skanska and VINCI Construction UK.
This project has been delivered with support from the CITB Growth Fund, which aims to ensure that the construction industry has the right people, with the right skills, in the right place, at the right time and is equipped to meet the future skills demands of the industry.
